Status of Dossier Sheets in the Southeastern Wisconsin Region

Dossier sheets are generally available for all relocated and monumented U.S. Public Land Survey System (USPLSS) section corners, quarter-section corners, centers of sections, meander and witness corners in the seven-county area. Please note the following status of monumentation and availability of dossier sheets (or alternative records) for the Southeastern Wisconsin Region.

Kenosha, Milwaukee, Racine, Walworth, and Waukesha Counties

Monumentation of USPLSS corners is complete and dossier sheets are available for all monumented corners in these counties. The dossiers are single-page documents, containing the corner identification, location sketch, and surveyor’s affidavit. The dossier sheets for these five counties follow the model developed by the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC), which serves as the official county surveyor for Kenosha, Milwaukee, Walworth, and Waukesha Counties. Racine County utilizes the services of an appointed surveyor for county surveying activities.

Ozaukee County

USPLSS corner monumentation is complete for the county. Dossier sheets are available for most corners, although the documentation for some corners are older “landmark” records that eventually will be replaced by true dossier sheets. The dossiers are of various formats, consisting of one-, two-, or three-page documents. The Ozaukee County surveyor is also a part of the staff of the County Highway Department.

Washington County

Monumentation of USPLSS corners is complete for the county, and dossier sheets are available for all monumented corners. The dossiers are single-page documents. The Washington County surveyor is also part of the staff of the County Highway Department.
